    Difficulty Level:
  • August 16, 2011 Easy Access to Great Tunes

If you enjoy playing popular music of the 20s, 30s, and 40s from bare-bones fake-book versions, this little book, and its companions for the preceding decades will give you many hours of fun. The selection of songs is rich, lyrics are provided, and names of the lyricists and...

musicians are included. The arrangements are simple, and especially easy to improvise from. The miniature size does not detract from readability, but I have to use a big binder clip to hold these open. I plan to saw them out of the bindings, punch holes, and put them into small looseleaf binders. The binding is a big nuisance, but the selections and simple presentation outweigh that disadvantage in my view. This book and the others are 'beginner' level for beginners, but can be taken anywhere you are capable of going with your improvisation.
