Hi, I bought this book mainly for "El choclo" and I'm very satisfied with the quality of the book, The CD works excellent when you get lost after some time of practicing and need to re-focus (you don't need a quality recording for that, so not a...

minus for me). I consider myself a low intermediate guitarrist and for your reference I wouldn't pick up this book as your intruduction to fingerstyle, it may be toomuch, but if you can play some mellow fingerstyle songs (like wonderful tonight, a whole new world, etc.) this is the next challenge up, get ready for some fun.

  • October 05, 2007 Great music

I had to put up a review because the 2 star review is completely unfair. The only thing I would agree with him on is the recording that comes with it is poorly performed. World renowned classical guitarist, and GFA 1st prize winner Ricardo Cobo includes two of the arrangements...

from this book on his CD "Latin American Guitar Music". If they are good enough for the highest caliber of classical guitarist, why are they not good enough for our 2 star reviewer? If you are trying to decide as to whether or not to get this collection, do yourself a favor, and ignore mister 2 star, and at least [...]look up Ricardo Cobo's Latin American Guitar, listen to the samples of Milonga del Viento and Don Agustin Bardi, and judge for yourself as to their quality.

  • July 11, 2007 a slight let down

Overall these arrangements are of 'gig' quality, but nothing you would want to play in a concert situation. Pretty straight forward without much of any kind of development. Also the recordings were very bland and cold. The real let down is they don't tell you is that 2 of...

the 5 pieces are written by Morel himself and in my opinion compositionally weak and uninteresting.
