Just exactly what I needed. I had a copy from years ago, but we always had to transpose because it was not low voice. This is, it is new, it came quickly, and served us perfectly.

The service from the company was terrific. The quality of the sheet music was excellent. Delivery was very fast. I will purchase more sheet music from this company. I sang this song originally over 50 years ago and had given up hope of finding it again. Thank you for having...

A wonderful Christmas song - it takes one back to when Jesus was a baby in the stable. But you don't have to be Christian to sing it; the story is also about American slaves and their fears and ordeals. It's helpful if you can sing in the Negro...

dialect. It's almost an a cappella piece; the accompaniment is basically soft chords. I sang it down a third from where it was written and my partner did the transposing on the fly. It's very free-form, so the piano player has to understand how you will be performing it. The free-form allows the singer to be emotional and there are opportunities for big changes in dynamics.

A favorite solo among many singers and really makes folks weep because of the excellent vocal writing and text.

I personally enjoyed the discipline of singing this song, entering into the story, and the score was not simple but not beyond my limited ability.
