This Vocal Score is very good... You can build the whole musical out of just the book... unlike other vocal scores, it has every possible dialog... though it's an orchestra reduction it's still playable...

The Sweeney Todd piano score is clear and complete. Easier to use than vocal score which is manuscript style. Only disadvantage: the cost. Beware: Music is extremely difficult - a different league from the average musical; more like a modern opera.

This vocal score is probably one of the best I've ever seen. Very nice to read, but there is a lot of information. It is a really difficult piece of music. You better be good, if you plan on doing this! This vocal store is correct, nicely written....simply...

amazing! If you love the musical, this is a trophy to have!!!

  • February 11, 2008 God, that's good!

This score is extremely thorough. From cues to staging to dialogue, the score covers everything. It even includes parts omitted from the stage production because of time constraints in the Appendix. The music, of course, is terribly difficult, as expected with Stephen Sondheim. You must be a superb sight-reader...

to handle this book in a rehearsal setting. However, it functions well too in an informal, parlor setting.

This book is probably one of the best investments I have made. It is worth every penny. It is the entire book of Sweeney Todd (meaning all the dialogue, all the music, all the lyrics [and even a deleted scene!]). All the ensemble pieces are split into SATB parts (sometimes...

even further), so a choir could sing the song if it wanted to. The music is also written is such a way that you can make full orchestral arrangements, if you wish. The music is fairly advanced (both to sing and to play), but after a bit of practice, I can imagine someone with Grade 5 music or higher would be able to play the songs. All the parts (besides ensemble) are about 2 octaves in range, but the notes are fairly difficult to hold on to. If you don't know the songs, I imagine it would be near impossible. A wonderful book, all in all, though.
