This Vere languores by Antonio Lotti (1667 1740) is paired with text from Isaiah 53:4 to create a new Lenten anthem of deep sorrow. A brief punctuation in the story of Christ's sacrifice, with simple vocal lines and no divisi. Appropriate for high school or skilled church choirs.

The marked tempo is too slow for most choirs. I'd also recommend striking out the heavy-handed dynamic markings: the thing speaks for itself. Should be sung a capella, or with very light organ support. I'd have been grateful for the Latin text, just as an option.
