Summer is the second in a series of symphonic poems, inspired by the seasons and the folk music of Scandinavia. In Spring, the composer made use of two Swedish folk tunes, whereas Summer incorporates Finnish folk music, his ownmusical impressions of the landscape and a quote from Jean Sibelius Symphony No. 1, resulting in a sonorous and inspiring tone poem.

Na Spring is Summer het tweede symfonische gedicht dat Johan de Meij heeft gebaseerd op de jaargetijden en volksmuziek van Scandinavie. Spring bevatte Zweedse volksmelodieen, terwijl Summer op Finland gericht is: hiervoorverweefde de componist Finse volksmuziek met eigen muzikale impressies van landschappen plus een citaat uit de Eerste symfonie van Jean Sibelius tot een klankrijk, inspirerend geheel.

Summer ist nach Spring das zweite symphonische Gedicht von Johan de Meij, das von den Jahreszeiten und der Volksmusik Skandinaviens inspiriert wurden. Spring enthielt schwedische Volksliedmelodien, wohingegen Summer sichauf Finnland konzentriert: Dazu verwob der Komponist finnische Volksmusik, eigene musikalische Landschaftsimpressionen sowie ein Zitat aus der 1. Sinfonie von Jean Sibelius zu einem klangvollen, inspirierenden Ganzen.

Summer est la deuxieme composition d'une serie de poemes symphoniques s'inspirant des saisons et de la musique populaire de Scandinavie. Dans Spring (la premiere oeuvre) figuraient deux airs folkloriques suedois, tandis queSummer emprunte des motifs a la musique folklorique finlandaise pour aboutir a une brillante conclusion ou figure un court extrait de la 1re Symphonie de Jean Sibelius, le plus grand compositeur finlandais.

Dopo Spring, Summer e il secondo poema sinfonico di Johan de Meij ispirato alle stagioni ed alla musica folkloristica della Scandinavia. Se Spring conteneva melodie popolari svedesi, Summer e concentrata sulla Finlandia: aquesto scopo, il compositore intreccia musica folkloristica finlandese con delle proprie impressioni musicali paesaggistiche, insieme a una citazione della Prima Sinfonia di Jean Sibelius creando cosi un'emozionante unita sonora.
