Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio - Music Minus One composed by Claude Bolling. For flute solo. Big Band, Swing and Play Along. Difficulty: difficult. Sheet music and accompaniment CD. Solo part, standard notation and introductory text. 24 pages. Published by Music Minus One (MO.MMOCD3342).

ISBN 1596153180. With solo part, standard notation and introductory text. Big Band, Swing and Play Along. 9x12 inches.

This Suite, when first introduced, was performed by Claude Bolling and Jean-Pierre Rampal. It swiftly became the most successful chamber music recording in history with over one-half million copies purchased. Comprised of seven movements, it cleverly exploits the differences between each instrument in a wonderfully effective way. We are delighted to make it available to you, the soloist. Claude Bolling has endorsed this recording. Includes high-quality printed music and a compact disc containing a complete performance with soloist, in split-channel stereo (soloist on the right channel); then a second version in full stereo of the accompaniment, minus the soloist. Soloist: Suzanne Kirton, flute and bass flute. Ensemble: Michael Junkroski, piano; Kevin Mauldin, bass; Tim Miller, drums.

  • June 20, 2008 Great music, but low production quality

When I purchased this for a student to use for a talent show, I was not anticipating that I would still be able to hear a bit of flute in the background.

The music was great (I had played it before, so I knew that.) I just wish a source for the accompaniment parts was included with the flute music.

  • August 20, 2007 Good But Not The Best

Music Minus One is in my opinion a great tool for studing but I consider that this record of the Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio is not the best because there are times where the Trio lose the biting, confusing the flute player, I think is possible

  • December 06, 2001 A must have Jazz/Classical Solo

Wonderful contrast between the Classical flute & Jazz Piano/Bass. Quite a variety of styles which contrast & complement each other. Also, the pieces are well organized in an order that makes sense from a technical (ie. BREATHING & FINGERWORK) point of view in that "easier" more legato type pieces precede some of...

the more difficult passages. -----only dissapointment is that the 2nd channel with the flute solo is faintly audible when the right channel is turned off. It would have been MUCH better if there was a 2nd accompiament track or if the flute part was able to be TOTALLY blocked out.
