There is little point in writing a review on quartets such as these. They are masterpieces of music and allow the player to follow the development of this musical form. What is really remarkable is the extraordinary quality of the edition and the clarity of its impression. The parts are...

separable, as usual, but in this case, the weght and texture of the paper allow an easy placing on the different music stands. They are a very recent purchase so I am unable to tell how they wear with frequent use.

My quartet in college used this edition for gigs, we had hours of music with just Volume 1 and 2 of this. We could practically sightread many pieces from it - and seeing the people light up when we'd hit a recognizable number was worth it (many of these quartets...

are clearly recognizable by most from movies and so on... and of course, Volume 2 has Eine Klein Nachtmusk, perhaps the most recognizable quartet ever written...)
