Standard Ballads - Women's Edition

Vocal, Vocal Solo
Composed by Various. Vocal Collection. Softcover with CD. 72 pages. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.740088).

Item Number: HL.740088
ISBN 0793583489. 9x12 inches.

These books feature fantastic American standards in new arrangements designed to flatter any singer, with interesting harmonies and accompaniments. The arrangements are in the spirit of the performance tradition of great standards established by singers such as Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Peggy Lee. Keys have been carefully chosen and will be comfortable for most voices. The books contain arrangements for voice and piano accompaniments, and a section of “fake book”-style editions of the arrangements convenient for performing. The companion CD includes wonderful performances of each song by a singer backed by piano, bass and drums, as well as trio accompaniment tracks only for practice or performance. Songs: All the Things You Are • Autumn Leaves • Call Me Irresponsible • East of the Sun (And West of the Moon) • I Left My Heart in San Francisco • I'll Be Seeing You • In a Sentimental Mood • Isn't It Romantic • The Very Thought of You • The Way You Look Tonight.

I purchased this for an elderly couple's second wedding. "The Very Thought of You" and "The Way You Look Tonight" were appropriate for the occasion. Most of the songs seem to be arranged well, and the accompaniment was spot on. The bride and groom loved it!

  • September 22, 2006 Great era of music

I purchased this book not knowing there was a treasure inside. I have absolutely fallen in love with these songs and the stories they tell. The timeless messages in "I'll Be Seeing You" and "Autumn Leaves" fit soldiers and wives/sweethearts of today as well as yester year. The...

cd is a great help to learn the style in which these songs need to be sung.

  • April 28, 2001 Great for weddings!

This music is wonderful for weddings. It has a great selection of different ballads from many generations. The companion CD is well worth it! It is great for singers who are fairly new to singing and need the extra practice!
