I have not heard any recording of this music prior to purchasing the vocal selections. If the intention of the composer was to create songs with absolutely no recognizable form of melody, this person succeeded beyond any wild imagining. Frankly, I feel the title of this show should be "Spring...

Sleepiness". I will continue to play a few to see if I can get a better grasp on the structure. Sometimes that improves as I develop a feel for the structure of the piece. But if you like melody and pattern, you definitely do not want to purchase this. The idea of paying over $100 to see a show such as this would really be enough to turn me off from ever wanting to see a Broadway show again. Isn't it bad enough the economy has dampened theater goers' incentive to attend the shows because of the high prices? One would think there would be a greater effort to produce shows people would be eager to see.

This is a fantastic musical. Its complex to sing but an intermediate to advanced player can play the music (my 12-year old is learning some of it). I urge everyone see the show and learn the music. Our family has had great fun with this. Yes, its edgy, but...

its great to get a conversation started with your kids.

Spring Awakening is an amazing musical in the first place. And now there's piano music to it! This book is amazing for contests, auditions, and just for fun. Each song sounds just like the real thing!
