I play out of this book for a local retirement center and everyone LOVES the music. I typed out all the lyrics for them; I recommend that you include lyric sheets with these wonderful books.

I like this book, the songs are easy, but pretty and it has a nice variety of songs from that era.

The selections of music in this book were very well chosen for content and relativity to the era. Many were ones that my mother would hum years after while doing household chores because they were the significant ones for that time frame. It was especially appreciated to have so many...

of them in one concise volume.

  • May 15, 2008 MORE BALLADS, LESS INSTRUMENTAL SWING

WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SEEN MORE OF THE WARTIME BALLADS, I.E."IT'S BEEN A LONG, LONG TIME", "I HAD THE CRAZIEST DREAM", OR SOME LEFTOVER STANDARDS FROM AN EARLIER ERA SUCH AS " A PRETTY GIRL IS LIKE A MELODY"

  • February 27, 2007 A Trip Down Memory Lane

I ordered the book because somewhere in my music I misplaced The Old Lamplighter and although I don't play it everyday when I couldn't find it after searching and searching and even paying my granddaughters $5.00 each for another search and we couldn't find it I was...

so delighted to find a copy of The Old Lamplighter in your WONDERFUL BOOK (SONGS OF THE 40'S) It had the left hand rhythm I was searching for. I had purchased one of the easy read song books but it didn't have the left hand rhythm I was looking for. I had no idea I knew so many of the songs and didn't realize I hadn't heard them in so long. It is so fun to sit and play them now.
