  • January 22, 2013 It's a good one!

The sheet music is well produced, unfussy, classy, great readability, nice paper, robust. It's great to see the lyrics and scores set out like this. The songs are varied and a notch up from most pop in terms of the chord progressions, harmony and so on; and in demonstrating...

how the piano can communicate so well to support a song. There are some lovely melodies to enjoy if you are a singer (upper baritone / tenor range). Rufus sings them pretty much as transcribed. I'm not sure some of the songs, like Zebulon, would work for someone else to perform. But others are fine, anyone could sing 'Who Are You New York?' with sincerity! The piano arrangements are fairly demanding in places. So, a varied collection and should have broad appeal for singers, pianists and composers alike. If you aspire to combing all three, then it's essential - just to see where the bar has been set!
