I've been waiting for the opportunity to perform this for several years. The choir is working very hard to make this a memorable performance for Good Friday. It is a wonderful work.

We found this cantata to be moving and memorable. The words are as beautiful as the music and it is relatively easy to learn.

This cantata has been done at my church at least 3 times over the past 10 years, either on Maundy Thursday or Good Friday. The music is beautiful and mournful, appropriate for the Lenten season. There are opportunities for soloists to shine, as well as sections. Our choir processes out...

at the end, in darkness, then the altar is stripped and a black cloth draped over the cross. All exit in silence. It is very moving, and provides for a time of contemplation prior to the joy of the Easter resurrection.

Beautiful melodies, very moving and sad. We are doing this for Maunday Thurs service.
