Excellent edition. Barenreiter, as always, has beautiful editions, wonderfully spaced, with an incredibly thick booklet of editorial scruples, helping solve any minute squabble between versions. This is an incredibly easy edition to read, and well worth the money for a lasting, well researched (and current) edition!

Great! Like the other reviews have stated this collection is superb. There are some suggested fingerings, but the are minimal. Decent editions for masterworks like these are worth the extra cost, and this definitely was. I only wish that Baerenreiter had included the cello variations as well!

The folks at Barenreiter make a masterpiece of every edition (and I have played several). This edition of Beethoven's complete sonatas, the second such edition published by BR, is really top notch. Printed on large size cream paper, it has a vinyl cover booklet bound for the solo, and...

square book bound for teh piano. There is plenty of space for notes/fingerings, and the paper is hefty. I have worn through music by writing and general use, but Barenreiter editions last much longer than others. The fingerings are sparse mmore of a suggestion, and I like how there is plenty of room to add your interpretation onto the scholarly approach taken by the editor. In short, it's worth every penny.

I simply love this edition. First of all, it is well laid out and easy to read--Baerenreiter even has pullouts to facilitate page turns (no photocopies necessary!). Secondly, both score and cello part are free of fingerings and other extraneous editor's markings, so you are free to put...

in your own. Finally, this edition contains a very detailed critical commentary (in English) explaining particular assumptions made by the editors as well as the reasons behind discrepancies between this and other reliable editions (e.g. Henle Verlag). I have not seen this edition in any sheet music stores in the US.
