Finely engraved, well researched and attractive edition with logical page turns and a nice amount of background information. Another excellent publication from Henle.

  • April 17, 2009 Brahms violin/piano sonatas: beautiful but difficult

To play these sonatas in the required tempi can present difficulties, since the range between bass and treble sections is considerable and requires advanced agility. Fingering in this Henle urtext-edition is helpful. Brahms' usual rhythmic variations are challenging as well.

Great edition of these great works! No complaints at all - even includes the Scherzo from the Sonatensatz.

  • July 16, 2008 Interesting edition

The G. Henle edition of the Brahms Sonatas for Violin and Piano is most interestiung in many respects:fingering and bowings which had not occurred to me; the print and paper are clear which makes for a most facile edition, and historical notation which buttress understanding and appreciation.
