This is one of my favorite flute pieces to play. It showcases an advance player's technique such as fast accurate articulation and fingers and yet slow lyrical passages while using an exceptional tone. This is a great piece for the striving intermediate to the most advance flute player.

What an amazing piece to listen to and to play! 1st 3rd movement are fast and tricky to play and the 2nd movement is just beautiful melancholic and just pure genius. Poulenc has motifs that run through the sonate. The audience will love to hear it i've played the...

first two movements and am going to play the 3rd movement as a finale in my recital next week! If you dont have this repetoire you must learn it because it is sooo worth it! Good luck with 3rd movement though!

  • March 21, 2007 A cool piece!

1st and 2nd movements are immediate to advanced; 3rd movement is advanced. The piano part is no more an accompaniment than the flute part is. The piece is western art music, yet contains jazzy overtones. My daughter and I performed the 1st movement at a recital. The audience loved it...

. It's also a lot of fun to play.
