Franz Schubert wrote his Sonata in A minor for arpeggione and piano in 1824 at the suggestion of the Viennese musician Vinzenz Schuster. This volume is based on the Urtext of the New Schubert Edition; the solo part has been arranged for performance on the flute while the piano part is identical to Schubert's original as presented in the New Schubert Edition. This enables players to follow the discrepancies between the original and the arrangement.
