  • December 05, 2012 Great music in Van Eyck style.

Great music in Van Eyck style. Not easy, but but easy to play the first parts. Songs get more difficult in each part. (adding fast notes and different keys) Overall, I am completely happy with this. 10 years in the recorder.

This book is a great selection for the solo recorder player. Interesting changes in tempo and rhythm. Really enjoy playing pieces from this book during the Christmas season!

  • December 03, 2008 Good music- too many embellishments

I bought this book for a middle school flute player and it's a little advanced at the given tempos, but that's no big deal, you don't have to go that tempo. The songs were a nice collection of traditional and non-traditional. Overall I liked the book...

except that almost every song has a nice presentation of the melody at the beginning but then they go into a development section that is filled with way too many embellishments and modifications. Some of the sections don't even sound like the song. I don't mind making it more advanced and it's nice to give it some ornamentation and originality, but this book takes it a little over the top.

  • November 26, 2007 recorder for Christmas

This music was written by a very talented musician, composer and mathematician who happens to be a member of my church choir and a faculty member at the University of Evansville. His mind and talent are brilliant. I highly recommend this music to any recorder player who wants a good...

    challenge from good music.
