Solo Pieces for the Beginning Flutist

Solo Pieces for the Beginning Flutist arranged by Dona Gilliam & Mizzy McCaskill. For Flute. Saddle-stitched, Solos. Classic. Beginning. Book/CD Set. 52 pages. Published by Mel Bay Publications, Inc (MB.93815BCD).

ISBN 9780786667390. Classic. 8.75 x 11.75 inches.

An outstanding collection of pieces for the beginning flutist including tasteful piano accompaniment arranged within the limitations of the developing instrumentalist range, tone, phrasing and technique. As a vast number of musical concepts are encountered in playing these pieces, this book is also recommended as an exceptional tool for the lesson setting. The flute music is in a separate pull-out part.

  • October 17, 2011 Great beginning solo book

As a flute instructor, I like anything with a CD- to encourage my students to practice at home and learn proper rhythms and feel. I especially love this book because even with my basic piano skills I can play a lot of the accompaniments. The pieces are all very melodic...

and my students of all ages, including boys and girls, kids and adults have really enjoyed this book.

  • June 02, 2006 Excellent book

This was the first book I ever bought with CD accompaniment. I found the arrangments very easy to play.I have been taking lessons for 6 years but still consider myself a beginner. As a person, who began taking lessons in my early 50's, I felt a sense of...

accomplishment when I was able to play from this book with the accompaniment. I would recommend this book for the beginner. I have since, elevated to a more advanced level of play.
