  • September 22, 2008 Great Exercizes!

    I have been playing for over 30 years and never realized how "weak" I am when it comes to slurring and chromatic exercises. Andreas Segovia played with such great tone, these exercises along with his "Scale Studies" will put you in the right direction!

    Ok! Not the best headline but I love these exercises for slurs. The only thing this book doesn't do is what the good guitarist can do in his/her head. Use all the exercises on the other five strings. It's a challenge to keep from getting unwanted noises...

    from the other strings, but if you are focussed you can do it and it will improve your playing.

  • November 08, 2007 Best Warm Up Ever!!!!!

    I've been playing through this every day since I've Aquired it 1 to 2 times through. Each excersize is pretty simple and definately sounds boring but thats not the point. This warms up yours fingers BETTER than the segovia scales. In fact this routine works out really well...

    if you do this before your segovia scales. All excersizes are written for the high "e" string but in reality you can do them on any string. Also combineing patterns is highly reccomended, as thats where the fun really starts! Best Warm Up Ever!!!!!!

    I simply can not understand why the young people playing jazz, blues,pop,etc. aren't using this book. These slur studies have set for life MANY a classic or jazz guitarist. Use your brains-use an original source. The only thing that is better than this is The Diatonic...

    Major and Minor Scales for the Modern Guitarist {and an identical book for ecelctric bass} published by Aebersold Jazz{jazzbooks.com}
