    San Antonio, TX
    Difficulty Level:
  • December 11, 2010 Marvelous sounding, and very fun to play

Already being a Vivaldi appreciator, I bought this book in September after a year of playing double bass. The thing that keeps me opening this book and learning sonatas is how great they all sound and how fun they are to play. If your familiar with Vivaldi's sound then...

you won't be disappointed when you open this book. But if you're looking to play in the higher registers then you might be disappointed, as there isn't a single note past the octave A on the g-string. Overall, this book has helped me greatly with intonation and shifting, which is the basis for any bass player, solo or not. These sonatas will provide great study pieces and i will continue to use this to advance my playing.

Excellent piece for use with trombone for solo/ensemble festival. 9th grade student plays Sonata 1, two of the four movements. Great variety in range and tonal quality.
