This title is very misleading. There aren't six duets, there are only four. The three Op. 81 duets are as advertised, but Op. 57 bis is not three duets, it's one duet, in F major, that has three movements. There are also two other Op. 57 bis duets...

, in A minor and G major, which aren't present in this volume and have to be ordered from Europe. The original pieces in Op. 57 are called Three Grand Solos--the "bis" is because they were later rearranged as duets. My copy also says "For Viola and Piano." Go Kalmus!

Notation slightly different than the norn--- quarter rests were "backward" eighth rests--- which stumped some of my students until they got used to it. Amusingly, the flute duets were labeled for "VIOLA AND PIANO" on the cover!
