SATB choir

Item Number: HP.8571

Text by Joel Raney.

Featuring original music interspersed with familiar carols, this is a thirty-minute musical for SATB choir that re-tells the Christmas story from the vantage point of angels - from Gabriel's first appearance to Zacharias, to the glorious scene of angels filling the heavens singing "Gloria in excelsis Deo!" The range of musical styles reflects the various moods of the angels' scenes, making this a colorful musical tapestry of angel portraits. The program ends on a high note with the congregation joining to sing "Angels We Have Heard on High," and "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing." At thirty-minutes, this work will fit well into a worship service or special program. Accompaniment can be provided by piano, chamber orchestra or CD Track.

This is the BEST Cantata I have ever seen. Usually for our concerts, I myself make up a program of songs and readings, progressing from Advent into the Christmas story because rarely do I find a Cantata that I like from start to finish. (before, have used several pieces from...

one but not all.) But this one is a real gem! Just fantastic. We loved all the pieces from start to finish as did our audiences - so much so that we did it both last year and this again, at audience request. What's so great is that it uses the lovely familiar carols with a mix of other nice tunes incorporated as well. The readings are done while the introductory music is being played for each piece so it moves quickly and smoothly from 1 song to the next. Fun to sing;easy to learn. It does take a good pianist to play though as the accompaniment is challenging in some places. Don't know about the 4 hand mentioned in the original description as what we have is for 2. Thank you Joel Raney- just wonderful!
