Children's Musical. Composed by Hal H. Hopson. Brookfield Christmas Choral. Book & Cassette Package. 4 pages. Published by Brookfield Press (HL.8741532).

It is Christmas Eve 1818, at St. Nicholas Church nestled high in the Austrian Alps. Mice have made a shambles of the organ, creating quite a problem. All ends well, however, as the beloved carol 'Silent Night' is born out of quite unusual circumstances. The Director's Manual is presented in a reproducible format, with one-time permission to photocopy music, lyrics and resources. Songs include: 'Church Bells', 'Antiphonal Gloria', 'Song of the Gleeful Mice', 'Tyrolean Street Carol', 'The Christmas Band', 'Herr Gruber's Carol', 'Silent Night, Holy Night'.

Available: Director's Manual (with reproducible singers pages), ChoirTrax Cassette or CD (Side A - Stereo Accompaniment, Side B - Split-track Accompaniment), Preview Cassette (Full Performance plus dialog), RehearsalTrax Pak (Preview Cassette 12-Pak). 15 min./Grades K-6

A cassette preview pack contains the complete songbook and a cassette with the full-length audio recording of a choral musical or collection.

I had directed this show years ago at another school but was having difficulty finding copies of the director's score and cassette. Thanks for having this available and for a reasonable price!!

This is a wonderful play. You must get the Director's Guide but it also includes reproducable Singer Sheets. It is the true story of the penning of Silent Night in Austria. The play is great for elementary through adult actors. No scenery is needed as it takes place in...

a church! Costumes are very important though. One problem I found with the listening tape is that only one voice had a German accent. Even a fake Brittish accent would do. You can teach the kids some good lessons on diction, projection, pronounciation (one rule I had was that all "w's" were to be pronounced "v" and visa versa.) Easy unison songs, easy lines to learn. Four Stars
