A gem of 16th Century polyphony. Schirmer's helpfully notes that the dynamic markings are in the style of one hundred years ago; taken literally, they'd be rather excessive.

Palestrina is one of the most amazing composers ever. I have learned so much from singing his music in our choir. It is so amazing to see how the music of the Catholic Church has played such an important role in the Church. What other religion can claim to have...

such heavenly music as this- music that draws our attentions to Almighty God, rather than to ourselves?

    Difficulty Level:
  • June 02, 2001 This song is gorgeous...

I am a second year choir student at my high school, and the experiences I have had in choir have given me a broadened perspective and respect for many different kinds of music. Whenever I listen to this song (I have also had the opportunity to perform it), I slip...

into a spiritual euphoria, and C-A-N-N-O-T stop until the song has finished. Palestrina was a genius! Please, take the time to adore this music as much as I do. It is as valuable now as it was when it was written.
