This toe-tapping arrangement of a lesser-known spiritual mixes a bit of minor mystery with joyful refrains. The trumpet and sax parts contribute to a festive sound reminiscent of the Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass or Maynard Ferguson. Suitable for children’s or adult choirs with optional jazz quintet (trumpet, tenor sax, piano, bass, drums). The choir parts are not difficult because there is no harmony. Instead the musical interest results from two overlapping parts, which can be sung antiphonally by two choirs facing each other.
