At the age of 13 he composed sacred music of a high standard. By the time he was 14 he taught the harpsichord, flute and cello at the music school in his home town. In 1786, when he was 17, he was appointed Kapelmeister in Correggio and Modena. He became active also in Venice and Turin, where he composed some chamber music, notturnos, some cantatas, two symphonies and the melodrama in three acts Cinna. Asioli's individual style of music may be found primarily in his vocal chamber works. In these pieces he was considered both warm and soothing. He taught Alessandro Rolla and Carl Mozart, son of the great genius. He died in 1832 and in the same year he composed a Requiem.
