The print looks faded, little indications, barely any fingerings. Luckily my teacher recommended me to buy the one by Edition Zeza, which is brand new and has been revised.

  • August 07, 2008 Exquisite & Complex, but Manageable

The first time I heard this music,I fell in love. I was in awe of the range of emotions it induced. (Well, after all, it is Romeo and Juliet!) I ordered both the CD and the sheet music the same day. What surprised me as I began to work...

through it is how manageable it is to learn, despite the fact that it sounds very complex and difficult. Prokofiev seems to know how to use the exact number of notes needed in replicating the effects of the orchestral version, no more no less. He achieves some exquisite sounds by using few notes but very selective dissonances. It is both exciting and deeply gratifying to work through this music.

  • May 09, 2008 Beautiful Piece, good arrangement

I bought this book largely to have the Montagues and the Capulets. The arrangement is good. However there are almost no fingering suggestions and the fingering is not obvious. Consequently, you need to do a lot of work to work it out.

  • April 21, 2008 Prokofiev for piano

The 10 pieces from Romeo & Juliet are piano music at its best - but of course the reduction for piano is by the composer himself. Most piano students will find them difficult to play but also very rewarding. In particular the famous Capulets and Montagues sounds remarkably good on the piano...

  • November 07, 2007 A must for the music library

These pieces are quite varied in degree of difficulty - none are easy if played well. It is beautiful, and often very moving music and well-worth seriously setting out to learn well. The final piece, 'Romeo Bids Juliet Farewell' must be one of the most romantic, haunting pieces of music...

written in the 20th century. This is a nice, easy to read edition.
