  • June 03, 2009 Great Piece

I played this piece in high school All-State band in Arizona. That was back in 1991. It was outstanding and I still have a recording of it that I listen to sometimes!

  • October 28, 2008 Amazing, Fun, and Adventurous Piece

I am a Junior and we are playing this in my High School Wind Ensemble. I've got to say that I love it! I think one of my favorite parts is in the Children's Gallery because, as I am a trumpetist, there is a part where we (me...

on 2nd part and another on 1st) have a solo/soli part. Also, for us trumpets, the Finale is amazing and regal! The high notes can be a little tougher to hit but it;s so fun. This piece isn't really for the faint of heart when i comes to playing it though, or playing it WELL I should say.

  • December 11, 2006 Really Awesome!

I'm a freshman in Highschool and we're playing this in our Wind Ensemble. It's a very well put together piece and very easy to enjoy and get into while playing. It has several different moods in the different parts. For example, the Children's Gallery is very...

light and cheerful, and the Finale is adventurous and triumphiant. Again, it's a very good piece and I would recommend it to any band that is looking for something good to play.

  • October 23, 2005 Love It!

I'm in ninth grade concert band, but the music is extremely easy. (I rated this piece's difficulty based on my classmates' reactions to the piece.) Nontheless, I still love the piece because, as I'm playing it, I really feel that I'm walking through the Louvre. As...

I'm a clarinetist, my favorite part of the piece is the fact that the movement called The Nativity Paintings is one giant clarinet solo, which really provides the clarinetist a place to add his or her own flair and style to the piece.
