  • November 05, 2008 Great purchase

I love this collection of pieces! Although they may seem simple at first, there is a lot you can do to show off your musicality. In addition, they are fun to play, as each piece has its own distinct personality. This is a great choice for the intermediate player looking...

  • July 18, 2008 The Importance of Editions

I would never perform a piece learned from Schirmer edition. I enter a lot of competitions and lerning from Schirmer would be a joke. This edition has no interest in staying true to the composer's wishes. That aside, these pieces are wonderful but I should point out that the...

name Kinderszenen does NOT mean that these 13 pieces are for children. Without experience, there is no way to do justice to these pieces. I will be performing the whole set in about a month but I would suggest Clara Schumann's edition or Henle Urtext if you're serious about playing Schumann correctly and well.

  • February 19, 2005 Lovely music

I haven't got this edition but the pieces are great. It is easy to hit the notes with most of the songs but that's not the point: any fool could do that. These pieces are all about how you play them. They are not children's pieces but...

pieces about children. You should put all your childhood experience into them. My favourite one is ''Child falling asleep''.

  • September 25, 2000 Worth the money for nice music

Most of the songs are easy to learn, but I would have recommended more use of fingering marks. The majority of the book lacks that. Great to add to your repertoire!
