  • January 03, 2014 Great piece for solo performances!

Scaramouche's three movements have varying levels of difficulty, but all are awesome as solo pieces. As a whole, the work is challenging and one of the best pieces I could find with no altissimo.

Scaramouche is simply an amazing piece. The first movement, Vif, is very technically challenging. The second movement, Modere, is simply a beautiful ballad-like piece. The final movement, Brazileira, is probably my favorite of all. It is so much fun to play. This song is a difficulty of Intermediate/Advanced...

. I am a freshman in high school and I am not having to much difficulty learning the secong and third movements. The first is definitely the hardest. It shouldn't be a big challenge for high school students, and it should be relatively easy to play for college students, especially when compared to works like Concertino de Camera. Overall it is a great piece that is very fun to play.

i am playing all three movements of Scaramouche for solo and ensemble this coming year. I love the whole piece: it is fun, yet very challenging. the first movement, Vif, is the hardest by far. Modere is a very beautiful, "ballad" type segment, and the third, Braziliera, is definitley a...

Very challenging. I recommend it for work with articulation and rhythm. It's a very good technical piece as well as lyrical.

Scaramouche is a very fun piece of music: it is valuable to the developing student and a valuable part of the advanced player's repertoire. Most of all, it really is a blast to play! As a relatively advanced music student, this piece was great for me - the (very much...

) southern-french style made it something that one doesn't really encounter in saxophone music like the Glaz. Concerto or even the Ibert (see the final movement). I would suggest buying it if you are interested in expanding your repertoire, or just want to have fun.
