This is some of Vivaldi's most elemental music, full of the characteristic sombre minor key sound that Vivaldi uses so often. It is almost minimalist, but with rich strong harmonies. I like how this edition enables you to pick the continuo line for a stripped down reading, enabling you...

    to focus on the harmonies.

I bought this originally so that I could have all nine surviving sonatas for the cello by Vivaldi. Other books have the usual six, which of course I own. This not only enhanced my collection, but the additional study notes I find can be quite helpful and add to enjoyment...

of playing period music. Unlike cheaper publications, there are no page-turns in the middle of the piece, forcing you to copy the music if you wish to perform it. The layout is excellent as is the quality of the manuscript. Worth every penny!
