  • February 18, 2014 Very good books!

I learned flute from these books. They are very easy to follow, have lessons where, for example, one week you're practicing this scale, and everything corresponds, and then this classical music solo. I'm looking into starting to teach young students and the first book I thought of was...

    this one. Highly recommended!

  • April 27, 2011 rubank elementary method for flute/piccolo

this has to be my favorite beginning flute book. I've used it for the last 40 years with beginning flute students. It offers solid lessons that do not overwhelm the student at the start, yet, has more information than a regular band book. lessons include: fingering chart, keys 0...

-4 flats and sharps, rhythmic exercises, scales and arpeggios, extended range, various time signatures, duets and lovely short songs that relate to the lesson at hand. If the teacher feels like the student would benefit from more etudes, Rubank offers a supplementary book also that is wonderful. I would recommend this to any teacher or student of flute.

  • September 20, 2007 Not boring ...

not also for intermediate or advanced level. It was the recommendation of the music teacher of my daughter - she is british - and in Germany we have not so good examples of flute excercises.

  • April 14, 2007 Easy and thorough

This was the choice of my excellent flute teacher years ago when I began. Years later, I've started to play again and find it useful to go back to an earlier study method. This and the Intermediate method are helpful to this elderly student.

  • December 01, 2004 Great

This book is great for beginning flute player and flute players w/o proper instruction. It breaks down the major and minor scales and shows their relationship. It also teahces you different artiulations and it is great for teachers becasue it leaves room to add your own dynamics and articualations...

. Overall, it is an excellent book.
