This tab book is very well tabbed out. I had a few concerns with the layout of this title. On alot of the songs it would not have the chords listed at the top of the pages but you can find them on the song either in front or behind...

the song you are learning. Alot of the songs are finger picked, and it does not have the orders the fingers go. but if you listen to the songs you will figure it out fairly easy. Over all this is a good tab book and sheet music book. For the $25 including shipping this is a good deal.

  • February 16, 2007 Accurate but dry

I'm thankful to have this book that very accurately reveals the nuances of John's style. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and John is my latest "ultimate guitar god". I also appreciate John's ability to write very open, meaningful lyrics. My book didn't...

have a biography or pictures in it. I would have appreciated perhaps a synopsis of John's playing style at the beginning of the book (ala Mark Hanson in his book on Paul Simon). It would also be helpful to indicate if John is using a pick or fingerstyle. It seems that a lot of John's style is in his right hand, which I feel isn't adequately covered for anyone at or below intermediate level of play to interpret. I'm not sure I'll have the patience to learn many of the songs as John plays them, but I'll likely resort to my own "easy versions" which aren't as satisfying. As a teaching tool, this book left me feeling rather abandoned; however, for someone already in tune with this style it may not present much of an obstacle.

  • April 16, 2005 Best Acoustic Album Ever!!!

Learning the songs on Room For Squares has made me a better player 300%. Thanks to the accuracy of these tabs it's easier than it sounds. Even "Neon" sounds awesome on acoustic. Don't be fooled by his youth, Mayer is a guitar genius!

  • August 20, 2004 Fantastic!

I enrolled in my beginning guitar class at my high school my senior year and being a big fan, decided to buy this book. Having not even played guitar for a year, I learned how to play Why, Georgia for the guitar recital and people loved it. Next, I tried...

to tackle Neon, and like one of the other posts said, it was difficult to learn because of how he uses his thumb so well. But, with practice I got the song pretty well down. That aside, the transcriptions are practically perfect. I haven't found a single mistake. This book is amazing, and worth every penny.

This is one of the most accurately transcribed tab book I've owned. It has a somewhat high price tag but was worth the money. If you are a guitar player, definitely get this book, not the piano/chord version.
