I'm quite happy with this set (unlike the MMO Rach2 and Tchaikovsky 1). The orchestra is playing well and the soloist is doing a fine job considering the constraints of this edition. I would also tweak the tempo on some parts to suit my style. My only problem is...

I got the old stock of this set. Had I ordered directly from MMO, I may have gotten the newer stock, which I like better.

My son was pleased with this as a gift. He did think the music was divided in illogical phrases for practicing, but loaded the CD on his computer and rearranged it to his satisfaction.

  • October 18, 2008 Clearly an exceptional opportunity

This piece from the first time I heard it decades ago,(a recording by Van Cliburn), captured my imagination. I played a version of the Andante cantabile written with 2 sharps! I am thrilled to be experiencing it fully now in the original key and on so many new levels...

. The structure of the melody and the weaving together of the parts is revelatory. Thank you very much for making this available.

  • September 24, 2008 Too many page turns

This is one of my favorites of piano literature. I have another edition of this piece from which I've been practicing. I find the page turns in this edition to be a little bit too frequent and in awkward places. I definitely enjoy being able to play along with...

    the recording.

  • June 12, 2008 Play with the pros!

Although I will probably never play this work with a live orchestra, it is such a joy to be able to do just that in my own living room. The slower tempo version is so helpful while learning. There are indications of each track of the CD on the score...

, which makes it easy to repeat a section. It would be a useful tool for teaching only for very advanced students.
