Repeat the Sounding Joy

By Susan T. Nelson

Handbells (3-6 octave w/ optional 2 octave handchimes and orchestral chimes) - Level 2
Arranged by Susan T. Nelson. Handbell part. Published by Hope Publishing Company (HP.2641).

Item Number: HP.2641

Go Baroque this Christmas with this festive melding of Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto #3," and Handel's "Joy to the World." The concerto frames the carol in the introduction and ending, while the carol takes center stage in the middle, repeating the sounding joy! Handchimes and a malleted bass line add variety, while optional Orchestral Chimes provide interest and sparkle.

When I first introduced this piece to my team there was a touch of despair among the group with the sense tha they would never learn this piece in 6 weeks. However, miracle of miracles they took to it like ducks to water. Our group consists of mainly older players...

with a huge range of both musical and bell ability. All are able to play this with confidence because of the beautiful arrangement of two very well know tunes. We are enjoying playing our lower bass bells and particularly love how the melody goes to all parts in turn. We are now happily preparing this for a very important performance for Christmas which we hope will be a surprise and a treat for our audience.
