  • July 18, 2012 Audience pleaser! High quality musicianship.

I love this recording. The early instruments provide brilliant timbre. I perform these on wooden piccolo with a successful blend. Lots of opportunity for the top voice to embellish. Best part is that the Praetorius comes with the 4 & 5 part score so that I can perform it with my...

chamber ensemble using many instrumental combinations. We even bring out the finger cymbals, triangle and tambourines. You will feel like you are part of a live ensemble if you set up speakers just behind you. I had to set the volume almost to the max for balance. Yes, the repeats are confusing; just mark your part and you'll be fine.

Good choice of pieces. I found a very good accompaniment on the CD. Pity that a part of the music is printed in such a small size that it's difficult to read it.

This music is unusual, and enjoyable to play. I have noticed quite a few mistakes in the sheet music, such as repeat signs in the wrong places.

I love early music and have several books, but being an isolated musician 'out in the sticks' rarely get to play ensemble music, a particular pleasure. This will keep me gainfully employed for a very long time !
