This book provides guidance for the bassist as well as the percussionist and rhythm guitarist on creating individual reggae grooves. The numerous challenging 2 and 4-measure rhythm patterns make a great rhythm reading workout, and the advice the author provides on equipment selection and rhythmic styles will be appreciated by the whole band. The attached CD features a full rhythm section both with and without the bass part, so you can jam as part of the group. Written in both standard notation and tablature.

  • 2010-06-15 00:00:00.0 A lousy book with no method

Probably the worst bass book that I have ever encountered! And I say this not because the book is probably targeted for those who are just starting out or because it was way too easy for me to be very interesting, but mostly because there seems to be no methodology...

whatsoever behind his ideas nor is it clear where the author is going with the stuff that he is presenting. There were also many mistakes in the notation and the examples were also totally useless because they were too short and very badly recorded. Indeed, often the author even doesn't play in time, which is one of the most crucial things to consider in such a groove based style as reggae. I would rather recommend Ed Friedland's "Reggae Bass" which I found very valuable.
