Composed 1896 by the spanish guitar virtuoso Francisco Tárrega (1852 – 1909), is considered to be the founder of the modern Spanish guitar school. He wrote numerous cmposition for his instrument, and made arrangements of many works of the Romantic period. This piece is originally a very popular but challanging solo piece for the guitar. A string quartet version of this  arrangement has been recorded by Conductor José Serebrier and Málaga String Orchestra (SOMM Records 0171).
