I use this book to instruct young beginners and find it pretty flawless. It introduces basic musical concepts along with the fingering for each piece. Students learn multiple skills simultaneously. Clearly laid out and well designed. What's the next book after this, I wonder? I would like this to...

be the start of a series!

As a older adult learning does not come as easy. Bought a few beginners books but this one is very straight forward it does not assume you all ready have a Master's in music like some others. Anyone who does not have the benefit of access to a teacher...

or would like to learn at their own speed this is a fine edition .The CD is a must once I began I was not sure of some spacing or how long between notes etc playing along with the CD is a must for proper timing of notes. What I found with all the notes lettered in the book (key of B of C ) I did not 1st have to learn all about reading sheet music where each placement equalled what need the key of note is written on each note. I have only been playing 4 weeks an can play 20 songs now. I feel so accomplished with this book I have ordered a higher end recorder at my local music store -- if you want to learn without frustration - buy this one.
