  • April 29, 2012 On the positions

To support one of the reviewers, it should be noted that certain parts of the 1st and 3rd movements can be played in 3rd position as well. I clearly remember shifting to 3rd in both parts when playing it as a child.

  • October 12, 2007 fun piece to play

as a student who is taking a break from formally studying, i am teaching myyself this piece with a friend who plays piano. its very fun, challenging timing. there is no shifting in it as far as i can see though, which is really what i should be practicing! all...

in all though, a good piece for self directed study.

With all due respect to the previous reviewer, this is actually intended to be played entirely in first position. A much better piece for "getting one's feet wet" in other positions is Kuchler's Concerto for Violin, Op. 15. However, this doesn't detract from the fact that this...

is a wonderful and important piece to learn for the student who is just beginning to work on concertos.

  • March 10, 2006 Outstanding solo

This is an outstanding violin solo piece for learning to count and get your feet wet on third and second position. Very good first piece to memorize and have in your repetoire.
