Precious Lord, Take My Hand

SATB choir
Composed by Tommy Dorsey. Arranged by Jack Schrader. Sacred, Blues-Gospel-Spirituals, Guidance, General. Octavo. Published by Hope Publishing Company (HP.GC968).

Item Number: HP.GC968

Beginning in a traditional a cappella choral style verse, this grand old classic moves to a slow and steady authentic gospel groove. The accompaniment track is first rate and the piano arrangement is something better pianists will want to 'sink their teeth into.'.

I have done this piece with two different choirs, both had about 20-25 people and the congregations in both churches went wild for it. I would highly recommend this piece!!

My choir LOVED this song. We are a small group (16 singers) and were able to pull this off quite successfully. The accompaniment is challenging!

    Chicago, IL
    Difficulty Level:
  • March 18, 2007 Precsious Lord, Take My Hand Jack Schrader arrang

The MELLO-TONES Senior Chorus (in existance for 29 years in the Chicago area) ordered this and the Shawnee Press Roy Ringwald arrangement of the same title. Both are excellent but of the two we prefer the Jack Schrader arrangement. We have a minor dislike for the sopeano descant in...

the Ringwald although it is probably very authentice for gospel music. Also the Ringwald does not seem to recognize the actual compaser, Thomas Dorsey. We will use them both (one or the other) at different performaces but most likely the Schrader more often. We could not comment about the Ringwald directly. Your requesting e-mail would not allow it because "It is out of print."

  • June 22, 2003 AWESOME!!!!

This song was AWESOME!!! We performed it as a choir for a church conference, and both the conductor and choir were in tears (the good kind) by the end of it. It was so emotional. I am going to order if for my home church to sing. We also sang...

Schrader's arrangements of Amazing Grace, Order My Steps, and Blessed Assurance and they were also all excellent.
