There are 3 books in this series along with a DVD that gets an aspiring player started. Each of of the books has an accompanying CD which provides a spoken lesson and backup track for each exercise. There is an actual sax player on the backup tracks that can dropped...

out if desired. The spoken lessons tell what to work on, and what to be careful about. The accompaniments are generally well done and make the exercises fun. By the end of Book I a student should be able to start on some of the songs in the "Song Book". This is a must have, and should be ordered along with Book I. Book II continues in the same fashion, but by this time a player will have enough skill to move on to other song books and materials. The only weakness is that Hal Leonard didn't make a "Play Tenor Sax Today" version. Perhaps Hal Leonard could use the same book, but offer transposed accompaniment CD's that would enable the printed material to be used with a Tenor or Soprano sax.
