This favorite piano cycle was composed by Mussorgsky in about 3 weeks, and was inspired by the drawings and watercolors of a his friend, the painter Victor Hartmann. Many changes have been made to the score over the years but this edition presents the work as Mussorgsky originally composed it.

  • June 19, 2008 JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!!

    This edition of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition is the pefect music for any advanced pianist. This edition also has the piece just like Mussorgsky wrote it and some of the pictures that were displayed in the exhibition. I highly recommend this bokk. Its a must for everyone!!!!

  • February 11, 2008 Exactly what I needed

    This edition is easy to read and is compact enough that it's only 51 pages (I like fewer pages to turn). I used it to arrange for an indoor percussion show, and it was exactly what I needed. I also like it when books have pictures, and this one...

    does, so that's a bonus. :-)

    If you're just dying to have the experience of playing "Pictures", this is great. However, if you know the orchestrated version well, this just feels . . .lonely. Still, it's what Mussourgsky intended originally, so that's important. This is about he difficulty level of hymns, so if you don...
