I absolutely love the entire Piano Town series. I have been using it consistently for a couple of years now and have students that have progressed through Level 4. I love the sensible way that concepts are presented. You are never surprised by a concept showing up in a piece...

that hasn't been presented. The inclusion of original classical pieces are well timed and the students love the choices.

  • November 15, 2008 Great Method!

I am enjoying teaching this course. My student is enjoying the course as well. The concepts are introduced in an uncluttered format at a comfortable pace and the technic book offers excellent reinforcement. My student loves playing with the accompaniment cd which is unique. The melody line is not so...

obvious. Playing with the cd requires good rhythmic timing, which I love. I wish the cd would come sold with the book. Also, my student has noticed the art work. She has noticed the themes carried over from page to page, which I found interesting.

  • August 06, 2007 Great New Piano Series

Piano Town is a great new series. I'm using it with a five-year-old, who has a little sister that just started in the Bastien Basic Pink Primer? I wanted a different series, to avoid sibling rivalry, but it's working out very well because the primer of...

Piano Town is just a wee bit more challenging, and perfect for my student's older brother. We love it! Hats off to the writers!

  • May 21, 2007 Great Alternative to Bastien

The new Kjos series has all the benefits of the Bastien method plus a meaningful way of learning the notes from the F and G clef landmarks. In addition, the series includes a great introduction to classical masterworks, most of which are in the original form. There is a lot...

of folk music included; the words have been changed to fit the unit themes. A nice feature of the course is the use of unit themes, where the pieces coordinate around the unit theme. I would enjoy learning from this course.
