Piano Theory

Piano
Level 1. Composed by Mary Elizabeth Clark and David Carr Glover. Method/Instruction; Piano - Glover Library; Theory. David Carr Glover Piano Library. Book. 32 pages. Published by Belwin Music (AP.FDL00317).

Item Number: AP.FDL00317
ISBN 0769235972.

The Theory Books of the DAVID CARR GLOVER PIANO LIBRARY are written in "programmed instruction" style, one of the most effective means of learning in modern education. Programmed instruction is based on three generally accepted principles: 1. The material is presented in small steps called "frames." 2. The student makes an immediate written response to each frame so that his learning is constantly checked. 3. The student knows if his answer is correct. The Theory Books are written for the Preparatory Age piano student. However, the fundamentals of music are presented in a logical order making the books useful for any beginner. The Theory books are correlated to the DAVID CARR GLOVER PIANO LIBRARY, but can be used with any course on music of this level of advancement.

I teach private piano and voice. My piano students have been working out of the Alfred Series, Faber and Faber collections, John Thompson and Adventures in Piano. Although I think all of these have merit, I needed a book to reinforce basic music knowledge - notes, rhythms and symbols. This book...

fits the bill perfectly! My students have begun to identify notes much faster and absorb basic theory. Because you can move quickly though these when motivated, I suggest buying book 1 and 2 at the same time. Great!
