Piano Sight-Reading 3

By John Kember

Piano, Piano/Keyboard
Misc. Softcover. 80 pages. Schott Music #ED12889. Published by Schott Music (HL.49015683).

Item Number: HL.49015683
ISBN 1902455819. 9x12 inches.

The importance of sight-reading as an essential skill for pianists of all ages and abilities has been set out in books 1 and 2. Similarly, the principles set out in previous books still apply: the importance of realizing the overall style, rhythm and tempo of a piece before you begin to play; the awareness of keys, chord and interval shapes, and overall melodic shape; and the need for a quick visual summary of repeat signs and changes in time – an overview of the general “geography” of the piece.

I have not even tried the book yet. When ordered, I did not realize there were 2 books preceeding this one. I have ordered the first two but as yet have not received them. Will let you know later if the 3 books can improve my sight-reading.
