  • July 06, 2011 Final theme third movement

This is the theme from the final 1min30 of the third movement of the second piano concerto. The very ending has been changed, but is still in keeping with the climactic final chords. The right hand plays the melody in octaves, and the left the harmony with a crotchet bass...

note followed by crotchet/minim chords. The penultimate three bars have quaver chords. Overall it's quite an easy piece, and helps to define most of the basic harmonies of this part of the music. For a performance which is "easy on the ear" it would be fine, but to make it sound passionate, romantic, and heart-rending one would have to add a lot more notes.

  • May 25, 2007 Great Capture!

Rachmaninoffs main theme is captured beautifully in it's final key. Lots of full octives and left hand chords that make this arrangement sound grand without feeling elementary. Fun to play and a great way to impress your friends!
