Really nice setting of a fairly simple carol. Would've been nice if the authors had made different verses. Of note, just because the words stay the same and the melody is similar when the song changes keys, there are differences in the parts.

We have sung this piece nearly every year for over 20 years as a finale to a Christmas program. It is one of the most beloved pieces in our Christmas repertoire. The handbells can be played on an organ or keyboard. We generally use a violin for the obliggato but...

I'm sure a flute would be nice as well. I cannot sing or play this piece without getting choked up. Fortunately, I'm usually playing rather than singing :-). It is one of the most beautiful, peaceful messages of love and joy I have ever heard. The words are simple, the accompaniment heavenly. The music can be easily learned by a church choir with minimal rehearsal. My heartfelt thanks to the Powells for providing our family and many others with such a lasting, heartwarming tradition during this sacred time of year!

I love this for ending the Christmas Eve service with candle-lighting. I've used it for years in different venues. It would be nice if somebody would arrange instrumental parts for those of us who don't have bells. I had to cobble something together for our chamber ensemble...

  • October 30, 2007 Peace, Peace with Silent Night at the end.

Our adult choir has closed the christmas program with this selection for many years. The audience gets to join in at the end with Silent Night and everyone loves that. It is the traditional closer each year. What a beautiful arrangement. This year we are adding a digital piano. One...

accompanist will play the virba bell for the handbells and the other the flute. It sounds beautiful as the regular pianist plays the accomp. It is easy to learn and very enjoyable, well worth the price.
