Chinese Ancient Dances was premiered in 2004 in its original setting for clarinet and piano. At the request of the prodigious saxophonist Carrie Koffman, the set of two Dances was transcribed for soprano saxophone and piano and premiered in 2010. Here, Dr. Chen transcribes the first movement, Ox Tail Dance, for horn.
